In 2000 I was diagnosed with breast cancer for my birthday present. Treatment took ten‐plus months and was REALLY unpleasant. Because of the lymphedema which resulted from the removal of lymph nodes, I developed an acute interest in lymph work. Also, as a result of the surgery, I could no longer do massage. So, I went back to school for Aesthetic work. Should have done that in the first place!! Nothing relaxes like a really good facial!! (Except an Aromatherapy Treatment) Of course, all of the skin care products were advertising themselves as “organic”, or “clean”, or “green”. However, when I examined the ingredients, I found that they contained PEGs, or parabens, or pthalates, or one of the glycols, or MEA, TEA, etc. That’s not clean. Since I will not put my hands in something that is not clean, I am certainly not going to apply unclean products to YOUR face or body. That is my pledge to you.
Cancer taught me an important lesson. It is my purpose (crusade?) in life to educate my clients so that they do not have to face the possibility of cancer or one of the central nervous system disorders that can develop from exposure to petroleum distillate byproducts, and/or fragrances (Yes, Virginia, some FRAGRANCE can cause things like MS!)
At least, they won’t develop it as a result of exposure to products that I use. I cannot control what else they use. That’s why education is so important. My clients need to be able to determine what is clean for themselves and purchase products accordingly. I hope that this is a philosophy that appeals to you. And, if so, I hope to see you in the office in the very near future.
